lists as organization

If you guys haven't gathered yet, I'm a huge fan of lists. I feel incredibly unorganized if I do not have a to do list going at any given time. Soo naturally I had to buy this
awesome planner for 2014:

So now not only do I get to list out things I need to do on a daily basis, but at the beginning of each month it gives a new list idea such as my favorite films of the year or fun facts I know about presidents... excited!

My current list is of things that are on my mind right now and it's fairly short since its 12:30am and I'm sort of preoccupied with Sabrina the Teenage Witch (don't hate). Anyways, it includes:

1. Must find a job!
2. The snow needs to end. I'm way over it.
3. Can't wait to go blonde this weekend (kind of scared, too)

I'm sure I'll share more lists soon!

product review 101

So, cheek colour seems to be one item of makeup that a lot of women have a hard time picking out. I think part of this has to do with the fact that we don't know how to apply it in a way that flatters us! Growing up, I only remember being told to apply blush up along the cheekbone, and while this can accentuate some faces very nicely,
it doesn't work for all of us.

This past summer, I spent a few months as a manager at The Body Shop and it really taught me a lot. I learned that applying blush to the apples of my cheeks makes my face look fuller (which I like because my face is naturally narrow and long) and it also makes me look much more awake.

This is called baked-to-last-blush in shade 01 (petal, 02 is coral) from The Body Shop. I was terrified of the pinkness of it when I first discovered but I grew more and more intrigued until finally I tried it out. I fell in love right away! As long as you don't go overboard, the pink hue is perfect. There is some shimmer as well, which I was unsure of, but it's less of a sparkle and more of an illuminator.

I applied the colour with this brush, and what I do is get the product on the brush then blow on it to lighten it up a little. After that I just brush it on right at the roundest part of my cheeks, then do one light sweep up my cheek bone.

Not the best photo of me but I especially love the brightness it gives in the dead of winter! Thanks for reading!

my best friend is you

Hello loves! I haven't posted in awhile, mainly because I've been lacking ideas for posts. I'm really trying to keep up on this though so here I am!

I actually received a little inspiration tonight when I glanced up at the bulletin board in my room and saw my Kate Nash concert ticket from last year.

If you haven't heard of her, or heard her music, you should probably stop reading this now and go look her up. It's not just her music I love, (which I first fell for whilst listening to a Regina Spektor Pandora radio station), but I love the things that she stands for. She is a strong, positive woman and a great influence to females young and old. She is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in or what she wants, and although many people claim to be this way, few actually are. So many women in the music industry today conform to the standards of society, and frankly it's a tad boring. Kate Nash is fun, quirky, and a woman of her own. She is an inspiration to me.

I'm totally about to sound a bit fan-girl-nerd-like buuuuut last year I tweeted about getting tickets to her show from my boyfriend for Valentine's Day (who by the way knows I'm in love with her so it's ok!) and I don't even think it was an hour later that she favorited my tweet and then started following me on Twitter! Needless to say, even though I think twitter is one of the most boring things ever, I can't delete it now.

Also, we've sort of had a conversation before. One of my lovely but loud-mouthed BFF's decided to shout to Kate at the concert (we were right in front of the stage) that my boyfriend lives in England (she's from London so it was something to bond over maybe????) and she looked at me and said "Your boyfriend lives in England?", I got all nervous/excited and just nodded, and then she said "Oh shit giiiirl".
Maybe one of the best moments of my life?

Anyways, I just wanted to say how awesome she is and that everyone should check her out!

Ain't she a beaut?

hibernation mode

Even after living in Michigan my whole 25 years, and experiencing winter after winter and snowfall after snowfall, I still am not a fan. So as the cold weather settles in every year, I inadvertently fall into hibernation mode.

I know I just said a couple posts ago that I'd be trying to spend less time staring at screens, but as it goes, I have been watching so many new (to me) TV shows the past couple weeks. Also, thanks to my friend and fellow blogger, Jamie, I've become slightly hooked on a few trash reality shows!

Here's the list of programs streaming through my Netflix and Hulu:

  • Gossip Girl (like 10 years late getting into this but I can't stop watching)
  • Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 (only watched 2 or 3 episodes thus far but Chloe is hilarious)
  • Derek (just finished season 1 and it was absolutely the best)
  • The Only Way is Essex (think "The Hills" but British)
  • It's All About Amy (featuring Amy Childs from The Only Way is Essex)
  • The Walking Dead (mid-season breaks are the worst-- I need to know what happens!)
  • Parenthood (so many feels)
  • New Girl (have not been feelin' Coach but I still love it)
  • The Gilmore Girls (this show will never fail to cheer me up or make me laugh-- so much wit!)
  • Breaking Bad (I actually haven't started this one yet but I have plans to see what the hype is about)
  • Misfits (a British sci-fi slash drama that I'm not sure if I can get into but I might try)
  • Pretty Little Liars (guilty pleasure numero uno-- who the eff is A?!)
I'm pretty sure this list will keep me busy through the spring thaw. I know I can't be the only one who hibernates in the winter. What do you guys watch when the weather is too frightful to bear?

Now back to Gossip Girl (Nate just found out about Chuck and Blair!!)
